Room Divider Installations – Three of our latest

Room Divider Installations That Prove Why Custom Sliding & Folding Walls Are in Demand Across Victoria

When people search for room dividers online, they usually imagine a light, temporary solution, something like a partition, screen or a curtain. But the modern market has shifted. Homeowners, commercial clients and builders are choosing permanent, architect-grade room divider systems that look like part of the home, glide effortlessly, and add value instead of making the space feel improvised.

Over the past few months, our team has completed three very different installations across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Each project had unique challenges, different clients, different wall types, different purposes but they all reveal why made-to-measure sliding and folding room dividers are outperforming fixed walls and temporary partitions.

Below are the three projects in detail: what the space was like before, the product we used, and the result after installation.

1. Albert Park – Clinic Reception Divider in a Historic Terrace Building

Product: A500 Top-Hung Sliding System, 2-door configuration (x2 openings)
Glass: Translucent
Fixing: Wall jambs, no floor track
Location: Ground level reception area of a professional medical clinic
Client priority: Privacy without closing in the room

Albert Park is full of narrow, Victorian terrace properties, beautiful, but rarely designed with modern workspace needs in mind. The clinic that contacted us needed to divide the ground floor reception corner into two functional spaces:

A private check-in area for clients
A secondary nook for admin staff and storage
The building’s age meant we had high ceilings, uneven walls and absolutely no room to install a permanent stud wall, which would also have damaged the heritage interior. The ideal solution was our A500 top-hung room divider system, a commercial-grade aluminium frame that glides from an overhead track and requires no floor channel, preserving the original timber flooring.

We installed two separate openings, each with a pair of wide sliding doors. The choice of translucent glass was deliberate: enough privacy for consultations, but still allowing natural light to flow through a space that would otherwise feel dark and boxed in.

For clinics, allied health practices, and accountants in terrace-style offices, this type of installation shows that privacy does not have to equal visual isolation. The result feels architectural, not temporary exactly what the client wanted.

2. Diggers Rest – Family Home With 6-Panel Sliding Wall for an Open-Plan Living Area

Product: A100 Sliding Wall – Symmetrical 3-door stack left, 3-door stack right
Glass: Translucent
Finish: Natural anodised aluminium
Extra features: Bulkhead and matching wall jambs
Install time: Approx. 4 hours

Newer homes often have the opposite problem to terraces: open-plan living that sounds great on paper but doesn’t suit day-to-day family life. This family in Diggers Rest wanted to divide their large meals/living area into a second lounge room that could function as a kids zone, study room, or guest space without losing the benefits of open-plan living when they wanted it open again.

We recommended the A100 sliding wall system, which allows the panels to stack equally to each side, three doors left, three doors right, giving a perfectly balanced look. The translucent glass lets daylight stay in the space but blocks visual distraction, which was especially useful given the home’s TV/gaming setup on one side.

Do we need to cut carpet to install a room divider?

This is the question we get most often, and in this case the answer was no. The family had tiles on one side and carpet on the other. Because the A100 system uses a top-hung track, the floor track is a low-profile guide, not a structural channel, so it sat neatly on the tiles and the carpet edged right up to it. No cutting, no patching, no drama.

The entire installation was completed in around four hours, no mess, no wall demolition, no cabinetmaker required. By dinner time, the family had two usable rooms instead of one oversized one.

3. Gippsland – Entertainment Area Divider Installed by Builder (CWC Homes)

A500 4 Panel

Product: A800 Folding End, bi-parting from the centre
Glass: White translucent inserts
Finish: Custom powder-coat to suit existing interior
Purpose: To close off a large entertainment area when not in use

The third project wasn’t a direct retail customer. This one came through a builder, CWC Homes, who was already familiar with our systems and needed a high-quality folding wall for a large regional property in Gippsland. We generally don’t encourage others to install our room dividers as we are not setup for that kind of service. Our room dividers are definitely not for DYI!

The client wanted the flexibility to open their entertainment room into the main living zone during gatherings, but also close it off completely for noise control and heating efficiency. Instead of stacking all doors to one side (common in cheaper bifold systems), we designed an A800 bi-parting configuration, where the doors fold away from the centre to the sides. This keeps the panels balanced and eliminates the heavy “wall of glass” look.

The white powder-coated frame and opaque glass inserts gave the divider a clean architectural finish that matched the home’s interior palette. Because this was a builder-managed installation, it demonstrates how easily our systems integrate into new homes, not just renovations.

Builders like CWC choose the A800 for two main reasons:

No plastering or structural wall build required
It adds resale value because it’s viewed as joinery, not a temporary partition
