Every room divider is custom made, so asking the right questions at the beginning saves time and usually results in a better design.

Here's what I'll want to know.

What Are You Trying to Achieve?

Most customers are looking to:

• Create another room
• Divide one large room into two
• Close off a room
• Create a home office
• Control heating or cooling where it's needed

Knowing the purpose helps determine the best door system. Please note our room dividers dampen sound but are not sound proof.

How Wide Is the Opening?

The opening width generally determines:

• How many doors you'll need?
• Do you want fixed panels?
• Door sizes?
• The most practical sliding or door opening configuration that suits?

A quick width and height measurement is all I need initially.

Which Glass Would Suit Your Home?

Popular options include:

• Clear glass
• Reeded glass
• Frosted or opaque glass for added privacy

Each gives the room a completely different look and feel.

Bottom Track or Threshold-Free?

Do you prefer:

A traditional bottom track for maximum stability?

Or a threshold-free system with nothing across the floor?

This is nearly always determined by how big your opening is, the weight of the doors and whether there is ceiling support for a track. Also note that a bottom track is usually only 8mm high and quite unobtrusive in most cases - its made so you won’t trip.

Do You Have Cornices?

If your opening has decorative cornices, we'll usually install a bulkhead so the sliding doors run neatly underneath them.

A simple photo tells me immediately whether this will be required.

Which Frame Finish?
