A Smart Way to Divide a Living Space: A100 Sliding Wall Installation in Geelong

This Geelong installation is a perfect example of how a well-designed room divider can solve those problems without sacrificing style or light.
Open-plan living is fantastic for light, flow and flexibility, but it does not always suit how people actually live day to day. Noise, privacy, temperature control and competing activities can quickly turn a single large space into a compromise
For this project, an A100 Sliding Wall system was installed to divide one large living area into two distinct zones: a living room and a recreational space. The result is a home that feels more functional, calmer and better suited to modern family life.
The System: A100 Sliding Wall
The A100 system was specified with four sliding doors, all stacking neatly to one end. This configuration allows the space to be fully opened when required, while still giving the homeowner the ability to close off the rooms quickly and effortlessly.
Each panel runs smoothly on the overhead track, creating a clean, minimal look with no visual clutter at floor level. When stacked open, the doors sit compactly to one side, preserving the open-plan feel when separation is not needed.
Finish and Materials
The hardware is finished in Monument powder coat, a popular choice for contemporary Australian interiors. Monument provides a strong architectural presence without feeling harsh, and it works particularly well alongside neutral interiors, soft furnishings and modern lighting, as seen in this space.
The panels are glazed with White Translucent 6.38mm safety glass, giving the best of both worlds:
- Natural light continues to flow between rooms
- Visual privacy is maintained
- The space feels lighter and more spacious than with solid walls
- Each door features four high inserts, creating strong vertical lines that echo the window framing and give the installation a refined, architectural look.
Bulkhead and Wall Jambs
To ensure a seamless finish, a White Melamine bulkhead was installed above the doors. This neatly conceals the track and integrates the system into the ceiling line, making the divider feel like a permanent architectural feature rather than an add-on.
The installation also included two wall jambs, allowing the doors to close cleanly and securely at each end. This improves acoustic separation, enhances privacy, and gives the whole system a more solid, complete feel when closed.
Functionality: Two Rooms, One Smart Solution
The primary goal of this project was to divide the living area into:
- A main living space for relaxing and entertaining
- A recreational room that can be used independently
- With the sliding wall closed, activities in one room no longer disrupt the other.
- With it open, the home returns to a generous open-plan layout. This flexibility is especially valuable for families, remote work setups, or homes where spaces need to serve multiple purposes throughout the day.
Thoughtful Geelong Installation
This Geelong installation demonstrates how a sliding wall system can dramatically improve how a home functions, without major structural changes. The combination of translucent glass, Monument hardware and a clean bulkhead finish delivers a solution that is practical, durable and visually striking.
Rather than building permanent walls and losing light, this homeowner now has control over their space. It is a clear example of how intelligent design can adapt a home to real life, not the other way around.
